Spring Break and “Cracks”
We enjoyed Spring Break with some friends in Lake Conroe. We rented a lake house that had some interesting feature -the seashell toilet seat (you know you wish you has one) and yes, that is a blue bathtub (overlooking the lake) in the middle of the bedroom. But the house had plenty of room for everyone and was right on the lake. Of course, there was plenty of fishing and other fun times.
The funny story of the week came from Cami. As she sat in the boat with the other kids she told a joke, but she accidentally told it wrong. Here is how the joke is supposed to go:
“What did one firecracker say to the other?” answer “My pop is bigger than yours.”
Yes, very cute, but Cami said the answer as “My crack is bigger than yours”.
Everyone thought this was hilarious. When Cami realized she told the joke wrong she tried to correct it, but the kids finding the 2nd version much funnier, kept repeating it “the wrong way.” Cami in her naivety didn’t quite get it and was getting upset. When I informed her what the “crack” would refer to, she got even more upset saying “I knew it was something inappropriate and I don’t say inappropriate things!” After that, there were lots of crack jokes made. Cami was pretty upset for a while, but hopefully she has gotten over it because I found her version quite comicalJ
Western Day

How perfect was it that the day after we visit the rodeo is Western Day at school? Kadie was so proud to wear her new belt buckle. Funny thing was the new buckle was smaller than the first buckle she had and the belt she had was pretty short, so when we put the new buckle on the belt was too small to wear through her pants. Fortunately, as a girl, she could wear her belt on the outside of her shirt and still look stylish.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The rodeo is always one of our most favorite things about Houston. There is so much to do and see and a lot of it is educational, which is why I didn’t feel bad about pulling my kids out of school to go. Although the kids enjoy the carnival and the animal exhibits. There are 2 main things we love:
Mutton Bustin
Eversince Kadie won her round a two years ago, she has looks forward to riding again. Mutton Bustin’ has kind of been “her thing”, the one thing that none of her siblings have done before, so she revels in the attention that has come from it. She wears this huge belt buckle that she won the first time to school all the time.
This year she wasn’t picked to ride in the main arena like last year, but we were excited that they brought it back to the kiddie carnival , where anyone could sign up. And what do you know, she won AGAIN!
Kadie was the only one to stay on the sheep for the full 6 seconds and scored 94 points.
Next year she will be too old to ride, but I am sure she’ll keep wearing her belt buckles for years to come.
The Rodeo/Concert
The main rodeo in Reliant Stadium is really the reason the whole thing is called a rodeo, since without it, it would be more like a county fair, but it is a ton of fun to watch. I think the kids favorite part is the bull riding, but the calf scramble is pretty fun to watch too. The cool thing is that there is a concert after the rodeo. I was so excited that the performer that night was RASCALL FLATTS.
. I watched for the performing line-up and bought our tickets in December so we could have a good concert to watch. But here’s the thing. The rodeo doesn’t start until 6:45pm, This means the concert doesn’t start until about 9:15pm. By the time the concert started Kadie was out cold and the kids did have to be up at 6:45am to be ready for school the next day. So we only ended up staying for about 2 songs, before we decided to head out. Next year, I am going to go 2 nights. Once with the kids and once to concert I want to seeJ
